St. Gallen

Located in northeast Switzerland, the canton of St. Gallen and its capital of the same name, is a popular travel destination from nearby Zurich. Many find the city of St. Gallen’s old town centre to be a wonderful place to explore. Largely a car free area, most of the city’s highlights can be reached on foot. St. Gallen is home to a small cluster of museums such as the Kunstmuseum (Art Museum) St. Gallen and the Naturmuseum St. Gallen. Outside of that, tourists can also visit the local brewery called the Schutzengarten, which includes a fully functioning brewery, restaurant and museum. Not far from town is the Bodensee (Lake Constance). The expansive lake is a haven for outdoor activities such as hiking and biking, and offers incredible views across to neighbouring Austria and Germany.

In St. Gallen, the Grand Casino St. Gallen is one of the city’s top nightspots. As a medium-sized casino, it offers almost 200 electronic gaming machines, and a few table games featuring roulette, blackjack, poker and craps. In order to enter the casino, patrons must be at least 18 years of age with a valid ID. Smart casual attire is also required. South of St. Gallen in Bad Ragaz, there is a similarly sized casino called Casino Bad Ragaz. Here, casual dress is permitted.
