ZurichThe canton of Zurich lies in northern Switzerland and is one of the country’s most populous. Its capital of the same name is the largest city in Switzerland, and sits on the northern edge of Lake Zurich. Zurich is characterised by its centuries old clock tower, which stands above the city atop the historic St. Peter’s church. Switzerland is known around the world for its chocolate and Zurich based chocolate manufacturer Lindt & Sprüngli welcomes visitors to its factory and offers free samples just outside the city’s main centre. In addition, Zurich is home to several notable museums including the Schweizerisches Landesmuseum (Swiss State Museum) and the Johann Jacobs Museum, which is dedicated to coffee.
Lake Zurich is easily accessible from the city, and is a great place to spend the day or night. Daytime activities include hiking, biking, sightseeing and boating. At night, the lake sparkles under the light of shoreline restaurants and bars. Across the lake from the city of Zurich is the Swiss Casinos Lake Zurich. Located in the town of Pfäffikon, the modern-styled casino offers over 150 electronic gaming machines and a small number of table games where patrons can play American roulette, blackjack and poker. To enter the casino, visitors must be at least 18 years of age with a valid ID and wear smart casual dress.
