A year-round holiday destination, the Austrian Tyrol is an area of outstanding natural beauty, with wildflower meadows, mountain lakes and waterfalls, charming villages with half-timbered houses, elegant Alpine chalets, sleepy valleys and snow-capped peaks. Popular with hikers in spring and summer, the Tyrol is criss-crossed with hundreds of kilometres of trails. There are numerous camping grounds and affordable working-farm bungalows and apartment holidays that make the Tyrol a favourite with families.

The historic town of Innsbruck, which is the capital of the Tyrol, and winter sport resort Kitzbuehl are perhaps Tyrol’s most popular holiday destinations, although the area is beloved by winter sport fans, hikers, mountain bikers and climbers alike.
