Pays de la Loire
Pays de la Loire is located in north western France and boasts miles of Atlantic coastline. Anchored by Europe’s last untamed river, the Loire, it opens up to the majestic Loire Valley. The region’s capital is Nantes, a city famous for its heritage and abundance of authentic French cuisine. Nantes has successfully made the conversion into a thriving modern and cosmopolitan city without sacrificing its historic background. Here, you can meander through medieval streets in the morning, and visit the cutting edge Les Machines de L’ile in the afternoon. French food lovers will not be disappointed with Nantes as it is home to countless authentic French restaurants.
Outside of Nantes, the Atlantic Ocean beckons. La Baule is home to what is perhaps France’s best beach and bay. Stretching over several kilometres, the sandy beach is both flat and broad. The town itself is dotted with a mix of luxury resorts, trendy cafes and budget accommodation. The Casino Barriere in La Baule is a hub of night-time activity in the city. Visitors will find some 200 slot machines and table games featuring the popular games of English Roulette, Blackjack and Poker. The region is doted with relatively smaller casinos. Visitors must be at least 18 with a valid ID. Dress code and opening hours vary.
