The state of Thüringen lies at the heart of Germany, almost at the nation’s geographic center. Weimar and Erfurt are its most popular tourist towns. Weimar is best known for its Goethe Museum, Goethe House and house gardens. In the 18th century, many German philosophers moved to Weimar following Goethe’s path, giving the city a unique claim to fame and an interesting past. In Erfurt, there are some must-see sights like the bridge Krämerbrücke, which is a long footbridge covered with inhibited half-timbered homes from both sides, unique to this area of Europe.

Erfurt is also home to a casino called Casino Erfurt. Located within a half-timbered building itself, this night spot is located just outside the city’s old center, and features Blackjack, Poker and electronic slots machines. Visitors must be 18 years or older and show a valid ID at entry.
