Casino Bad Wiessee Review

casino bad wiesseeBad Wiessee Casino is the largest casino in Bavaria. In my opinion, it is also one of the nicest casinos in the area. The magnificent views of Lake Tegernsee, top-notch casino facilities and warm Bavarian hospitality, all make this casino one to visit.

Access Casino Bad Wiessee

The casino is located in Bad Wiessee, a small spa town on Lake Tegernsee. Public transportation to Bad Wiessee is available from Munich. However the easiest, and nicest, way to get to the casino is by car, driving through miles of magnificent, untouched nature.

As to be expected, there is no parking problem in Bad Wiessee. There is a large parking lot outside the casino which is free of change. Just enter “Winner 1” (no joke – this is the street address of the casino) to your navigator and it will take you to the casino parking.

Entrance Casino Bad Wiessee

Admission to Casino Bad Wiessee is €2.50 . You must be at least 18 years old and present a valid photo ID. The casino imposes a formal dress code. Men are required to wear a jacket in the Classic Casino. I had a buttonless shirt under my jacket, however, and was let in without a problem. The casino offers jackets for rent if you don’t have one.

Atmosphere Casino Bad Wiessee

Atmosphere Casino Bad WiesseeThe atmosphere in Casino Bad Wiessee is exceptionally relaxed. This is probably thanks to the casino’s amazing vantage point, overlooking Lake Tegernsee and the pictorial mountains surrounding it. In stark contrast to its surrounding, Casino Bad Wiessee is located in a modern steel and glass building. The outer walls are made entirely of glass and the view from basically everywhere in the casino is staggering. Standing inside the casino, I felt one with its surrounding.

The casino is divided into two parts, a Slots Casino, located on the ground floor, and a Classic Casino, located on the second/top floor. The Classic Casino is located in a large hall, which I found very tasteful and pleasant. Entering it, you walk between two parallel rows of live gaming tables: seating tables on the right, and standing tables on the left. At the back of the room there is a large bar, illuminated from behind by columns of neon lights. At the front of the room there is a glass wall, with great view of the lake, and next to it are nice, comfortable sofas where you can seat, watch the view and relax.

The neon lights in the walls and ceiling create a somewhat impersonal atmosphere. But the effect is not as cold as in Casino Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

There is also a large restaurant on the second floor, with magnificent view of the lake. The restaurant was completely empty at the time of my visit and I preferred to have a bite to eat at the bar. The food there was good.

Smoking Casino Bad Wiessee

Smoking is prohibited in Casino Bad Wiessee, including in the Slots Casino. There is no smoking area in the Slots casino, either. You can smoke on the second floor terrace, where you have a fantastic view of lake Tengernsee, or in the smoking lounge where you can bet on Roulette via electronic stations.

Table Games Casino Bad Wiessee

7 Roulette tables were open in the Classic Casino at the time of my visit, three seating down tables, and four standing tables, with limits of €1/2-€12,000. There were also two closed Roulette tables in the room, which the casino could have opened if the demand warranted it.

At the back of the casino, a Blackjack table was operating with limits of €5-€350. Three additional Blackjack tables were available in the room, to be opened if the demand justified it. Other than Roulette and Blackjack, I saw a table of Bavarian Poker, a variant of Casino Holdem, which was closed. I feel confident that the Casino would have opened that table if asked by one of the patrons.

Poker Casino Bad Wiessee

Poker is only played on the weekends in Casino Bad Wiessee. As far as I could tell, tournaments are also available upon prior registration. At the time of my visit, there was only one Poker table in the hall which was empty. I didn’t feel like playing Poker anyhow, and made my way to the slots casino instead.

Slots Casino Bad Wiessee

slots area casino bad wiesseeThe Slots Casino is located on the first floor, past the reception desk. An ID is required to enter the Slots Casino, but the dress code is more relaxed than in the Classic Casino and a jacket is not required.

I was very impressed by the Slots Casino in Bad Wiessee. It has everything you would expect from a top -notch Slots Casino, from electronic Roulette stations to 3-reel one arm bandits. The casino boasts a slots fleet of over 200 slots, which seems accurate to me. A brand new Beetle car stood in the middle of the floor, waiting for the lucky winner to collect it. The casino is part of the state-wide Bavaria-Jackpot system. The jackpot stood at the time of my visit on about €350,000.

Smoking is not allowed in the Slots Casino. But there is a large bar, where you can just seat back for a while and relax.

Conclusion Casino Bad Wiessee

If you are in Bavaria, I recommend visiting Casino Bad Wiessee. This casino offers a unique combination of attractive surroundings and top-notch casino facilities. The staggering view of Lake Tegernsee from practically everywhere in the casino, together with the warm Bavarian hospitality, make for a relaxed and pleasant casino experience.
